His atmospheric landscapes of the Carpathian Mountains, Hungarian plains, and forested river valleys are rendered in a moody, Impressionist-influenced style with Symbolist undertones. He served as a war artist on the Austro-Hungarian front during World War I. His only solo exhibition was held in Paris in 1897.
